The magnitude of the crisis and the extent of the phenomenon of poverty and exclusion in the Basque Country have led several entities to join together their efforts in Sendotu AldiBerean to generate an intervention program in the BAC of significant scope and scale, without losing the coverage and territorial presence that characterizes it.
Sendotu AldiBerean
The program seeks to eliminate the obstacles that prevent people furthest from the labor market from moving from intensive social support policies to employment. It operates in both disadvantaged urban and rural communities in the three territories. It pays special attention to affirmative action criteria derived from horizontal principles related to non-discrimination based on ethnic origin, age, religious beliefs, disability, and sexual orientation, as well as equal opportunities between women and men. All of this is done from a sustainable development perspective.
A wide range of activities is proposed within the scope of active employment policies, framed within two types of itineraries:
- SENDOTU ALDIBEREAN GAZTEAK ITINERARIES, programming adapted to the needs of young people.
- SENDOTU ALDIBEREAN VULNERABLE ITINERARIES is aimed at facilitating access to and retention of employment for groups with the greatest difficulties.
The intervention focuses on comprehensive and personalized social and labor integration pathways through programming tailored to the needs of the individuals, activating various benefits that include diagnosis and guidance, training for the acquisition of basic, pre- or basic socio-professional skills, and/or training for non-certifiable and certifiable employment (CP1 and 2), as well as job prospecting, intermediation, and comprehensive support throughout the entire process, leading up to the job search.
At the same time, health, psychosocial, legal, and housing aspects are taken into account, all of which directly impact the process of social integration. Therefore, it is essential to incorporate regional coordination with the resources of the various social protection systems: social services, employment, healthcare, education, housing, and other key stakeholders such as businesses, social organizations, associations, and more.
We strive to improve the personal, social, occupational, and economic position of people at risk of exclusion, taking into account the following perspectives:
- A gender perspective and equal opportunities for women and men as a whole.
- An integrated whole that operates as a process: each action has substance and meaning in itself; the intensity of the support provided varies depending on each individual. Thus, the intensity of the support will depend on the individual’s level of autonomy and will vary as they approach the integration zone.
- Individualized and personalized attention: the resource adapts to the individual. The educational elements of the activities, as well as the individualized support strategy, are key.
- Multidisciplinary teams capable of articulating a comprehensive response to their needs.
The Sendotu Aldiberean network pursues methodological experimentation, detecting the most successful local initiatives that are transferable to other entities and places, as well as perfecting this program throughout the development of the ESF+ BASQUE COUNTRY PROGRAM 2021-2027 in order to make it sustainable over time and exploit its potential in terms of scalability and transferability, that is, so that it can be applied to a greater number of participants, places and entities in the Basque Country.
